If you’re having trouble getting customers to your doors or closing sales, I want you to know that I hear that all the time.
I love opportunities to talk to you and fire you up about your business again. Repetitive defeat can often be perceived as impending failure, but I assure you that if you’re looking in the right place for your answers and moving confidently in an area you know you were designed to be in – those answers are only hidden long enough for your values to be unearthed and tested.
Values like deciding at each fork in the road what is the most important thing after all? Is it money, or is it loving and serving people? If it’s money, you’ll never have enough and you’ll completely miss the gift your business was meant to be. If it’s people, you’ll have more than enough for you, your family, and your community.
When it comes down to it, I believe we all face a scenario that makes us consider what it is we truly believe. At its core, your journey in life and business will always make you choose between what situations look like, and what God says they are. Add to that a little resistance, a little failure, and we start to question whether or not He’s trying to teach us something.
You’re on the right track. He is. He’s teaching you to stand firm in what you believe, even when everything around you looks like it’s going to crumble any minute. In that confident faith stance, you become much more aware of the things you can be doing right now to be more effective, more efficient, and more lucrative. Circumstance is a teacher like no other!
One thing we do way too frequently in our businesses is decide that if we just work harder doors will open. Hard work is WAAY important, but the definition of hard work needs to be re-thought. It’s hard to trust that you have to do something differently to open that door. It’s hard to see where the time becomes available to do that new thing or experience that scary experience. But that, my friends, is called stretching, and stretching makes you more nimble for the race in front of you. Sitting in your office all day for longer and longer periods of time does NOTHING to get you ready for the success you’re about to encounter if you just change your course a tiny bit.
Do you know what it takes to see a 37% improvement in your business and in your life in a year? Only a 1% daily improvement in the way we do things! That should really excite you!
We can all do 1%.
Here’s your scary assignment for the month of March. Go do scary and unreasonable. Go network. Get out of your office and meet people. Go to listen. Go to find out what people are saying when they struggle, and what they’re saying when they’re winning – discover what you really want your business to be about and see how you light up again.
See, it’s not about what you do nearly as much as it’s about how what you do truly has the greatest impact and offers the greatest service to OTHER people. Marketing can’t give you what a handshake can. People who learn about you will begin to enlarge your perspective, give you suggestions, and introduce you to MORE people, and the cycle begins. Jump in. You’re not in this to be alone on the phone and Facebooking your butt off hoping the floodgates will open any second.
Don’t get me wrong. You need to make those calls. You need to be on Facebook. But you also need to be face to face with people to have a healthy perspective of your future. Not all networking groups operate the same way, so if you go to something that doesn’t work for you, try something else.
And here’s another tip. Find out how you can get on the schedule to present to the group. WOW. That’s a biggee. But it’s not outside of your ability to do this on some level. Speaking to groups is the fastest way to grow your business.
